A hibiscus in full bloom, five petals ranging from deep crimson to soft pink, with a single golden-tipped stamen arcing across the center. At 72 x 73 stitches it stitches up close to a perfect square, which makes framing simple without any awkward extra fabric to trim.
About This Pattern
Hibiscus doesn’t show up nearly as often in cross stitch as roses or sunflowers, which makes this a good pick if you want a floral gift that doesn’t look like the last five floral gifts you’ve given. The five-petal layout with the reaching stamen gives it real visual movement compared to a flatter, more symmetric bloom, and the red-pink palette works as a bold accent piece rather than something that fades into the wall.

Skill Level
Seventeen colors puts this a step up from a single-bloom beginner pattern, though every stitch is still a straightforward full cross stitch. The petals lean on a cluster of pinks and salmons — DMC 893, 3326, 347, and 3328 together account for 1,652 of the 3,495 total stitches — so getting comfortable telling those four apart on your floss card early will save you from a lot of squinting later in the piece.

Tips for Stitching This Pattern
Sort your four pink/salmon shades (893, 3326, 347, 3328) into a labeled floss card before you start — they’re close enough in tone that working from memory instead of the chart is how mismatched petals happen. Stitch the golden stamen (DMC 973 and 972) last: it crosses over several petal colors, and doing it after the petals are filled in means you can see exactly where it needs to sit against the finished background instead of guessing at its path first.
