A round, smiling bumblebee perched on a white daisy, with a soft blue sky and a single puffy cloud filling out the scene behind it. At 55 x 73 stitches, the full background makes this feel more like a mini illustration than a single isolated motif.

About This Pattern

This is the cartoon-cute half of a matching pair we carry — the same bumblebee-on-daisy subject also comes in a more realistic, background-free version if you want the naturalistic look instead. This smiling version, with its rounded features and pastel sky, is the one to reach for a nursery, a kid’s room, or a baby shower gift where character and warmth matter more than botanical accuracy.

The 24-color count comes from stitching a full scene rather than an isolated motif — sky, cloud, daisy, and bee each need their own small palette. DMC 310 (Black, outline) and B5200 (Snow White, daisy petals and cloud) together cover 1,032 of the 2,299 total stitches, with 762 (Pearl Gray) and 973 (Canary - Bright) filling in the sky and bee body at another 504 combined.

Tips for Stitching This Pattern

Work the background first — sky (762) and cloud (B5200) — before starting the daisy and bee in the foreground, since it’s much easier to stitch a subject on top of a completed backdrop than to fill in sky color around an already-finished bee without leaving gaps or overlaps at the edges. The bee’s smiling face uses tiny amounts of black (310) for the expression against the bright yellow body (973) — stitch the yellow body first, then add the face details last so you’re placing them against a finished surface rather than guessing their position on blank fabric.
